Virginia Cybersecurity
Students (VCyS)
We are a statewide Cybersecurity student association in Virginia funded by the Commonwealth Cyber Initiative (CCI) aiming to empower cybersecurity students through collaboration, knowledge, and resource sharing across the commonwealth. Our vision is to become the leading force in empowering Virginia’s future cyber leaders and professionals. VCyS connects cybersecurity student associations from around Virginia to share insights of best practices and encourage other regions to start events similar to the events that Coastal Virginia Cybersecurty Student Association (CVCSA) holds. Being a leader in VCyS has allowed me to gain the essential skills of organizing and planning meetings and events and to effectively collaborate with students and professionals from around the state.
Leadership Council
The leadership council for VCyS consist of the 3 leadership team members that operate and manage all four nodes involved in Virginia Cybersecurity Students. I am the Outreach Director for the Leadership Council and my role is to develop and advance outreach efforts within our organization to help intrigue cybersecurity students around Virginia to be involved in their specific node's activities and events. Being involved in this leadership council has honed my leadership skills and has created valuable collaboration and communication skills for me that will carry over into my professional future.
Operational Team
The operational team consists of leaders who are responsible for establishing and maintaning all three nodes. These are students from all across Virginia who strive to develop a student cybersecurity community in their region. They act as a bridge between CCI leadership and VCyS leadership council to make sure all node activities are continuing to improve and grow over time.
