IDS 493
Electronic Portfolio Project
This paper was written to provide a content analysis of job advertisements. It allowed me to learn how to better meet the expectations of the cybersecurity job market by navigating through existing job advertisements and analyzing them. Writing this paper allowed me to venture outside of a dominantly technical domain and allow me to understand what soft and non-technical skills are important to have in the cybersecurity field. The main concept I learned from this assignment is that cybersecurity employers want people who are able to collaborate with team members across all disciplines, and that just technical skills alone are not good enough.
IDS 493, the senior capstone for interdisciplinary studies, requires students to integrate knowledge from multiple disciplines to address real-world problems. In doing so, it helps you demonstrate many of the LeADERS competencies—especially Research, Leadership, Ethics, and Service—through project-based learning and reflective work.
